The Friends' Summer Party, September 2nd 2018

It was a great pleasure to hold this year’s Garden Party within the Abbey Ruins and celebrate their successful re-opening. Held in the Dormitory area, under clear blue skies, the event was the result of many months of planning by the three Friends groups involved - the Friends of Reading Abbey, the Friends of Reading Museum and the Friends of Caversham Court Gardens.

The Mayor of Reading Cllr Debs Edwards kindly opened proceedings and the entertainment began with the Pangbourne Silver Band, followed by the Shinfield Shambles Morris Group and the Rock Choir.

A big thank you to the performers and all those who volunteered their time and to Progress Theatre, St James Church and Reading Museum for lending equipment to us. We are particularly grateful to the Parks and Museum Services of Reading Borough Council and Reading BID for supporting our event. You all helped to make the event a great success.
