THE WEST WALL OF

THE DORMITORY

The arches in the west wall of the dormitory are from windows at the top of the cellar wall. The top of the window was higher on the west side of the wall, on the other side from that shown here, making a light shoot. In some cases the top of the arch has collapsed making it much taller than originally. At the top of the west wall can be seen a string course of stones which took the timbers of the floor of the dormitory proper on the first floor where the monks slept.
