Broad St. East

4.6  Listed Building, 2, 3 & 3a Broad St.
The area of primary interest in this listed group is the left part, no.3, possibly timber-framed and early 18th century.

The shell hood above the door of 2 Broad St. is a replica. The whole doorway may replace a similar original one.

4.7  Listed building, The George Hotel
The George dates from before the dissolution of Reading Abbey. It was mentioned in documents as early as 1423, and the date on the front, 1506, is
still over 30 years before the dissolution. However much of the building is from later periods: the courtyard in the middle of the site for instance has
18th century walls and 18th and early 19th century windows; and the front facing King St. is relatively modern, although "original timber members
survive".
